The great Bridge Lock is closed to all vessels due to high water. The Chesapeake Va., area received just under 12 in of rain from this storm. Here in Kilmarnock we had 6 inches of rain. It is unclear when it will open again. This shuts down all commercial traffic and most pleasure boats on the ICW. Some pleasure boats can take an alternative route through the Dismal Swamp. Good for smaller shallow draft vessels. It is longer but it is forward movement.

I do not know when the lock will open up again. If we leave on Sunday that would put us at this lock on Monday. Hopefully it will be running by then? We need to check on marinas in the Portsmouth/Norfolk area to see if they are open.
